Lighthouse Virtual Academy is a dynamic learning community dedicated to inspiring and equipping students to reach their unlimited potential. As part of the Muscogee County School District, we provide a flexible, high-quality virtual learning experience that meets the diverse needs of today’s students.
At Lighthouse, we believe that every student deserves to be known, valued, and supported. Our virtual environment combines rigorous academics with personalized learning, allowing students to grow while still being challenged to achieve excellence. Through meaningful relationships, innovative instruction, and consistent support, we create a space where students can thrive both academically and personally.
What Sets Lighthouse Apart
Navigator Camp introduces students to virtual learning expectations, platforms, and procedures through hands-on activities and team-building experiences. Students have the opportunity to explore the tools they will use throughout the year, ask questions, and gain confidence in navigating their virtual environment.
Through interactive sessions and collaborative activities, students begin building meaningful connections with classmates and teachers while developing the skills needed for a successful school year. This strong foundation not only supports academic readiness, but also helps foster a sense of belonging within our school community, connections that continue to grow through experiences like our SHINE Days.
We're More Than a School
At Lighthouse, learning goes beyond the screen. Once every nine weeks, students are invited to participate in our S.H.I.N.E. events, special opportunities for our virtual community to come together in meaningful and memorable ways. During each event, we celebrate student success by recognizing academic achievements and presenting awards students have earned throughout the grading period.
In addition to celebrating accomplishments, every S.H.I.N.E. event includes an engaging enrichment experience designed to help students connect, collaborate, and explore learning beyond the virtual classroom. Past enrichment activities have included tours at the Columbus Museum, improv workshops at the Springer Theatre, and hands-on science lessons at the Coca-Cola Space Science Center.
At Lighthouse, we believe that creating opportunities for connection and belonging is an important part of student success both inside and outside the classroom.
